Oh my! It’s been almost two months since I finished the hike. What have I been doing? What’s next?
At the end of the hike in October, Gary and I were so happy to be off the trail. I haven’t seen much of him since then, but that’s because he has a job and no more vacation time for quite a while. I got back home and started looking for a job to hold me over until…
My original plan was to hike the Pacific Crest Trail starting in late April, working for the winter somewhere in Maine or Vermont. Since the job thing seems to be a problem, but living cheaply is not, I figured I could leave Maine early and hike part of the Appalachian Trail before the PCT. Depending on how I feel after the PCT, I might just go back to the Northeast and hike the Long Trail, or do some hiking in Baxter Park. And eventually, when I have no other options, maybe I’ll have to get a job.
In the near future, however, you can look forward to infrequent updates on this blog. At the end of this month there should be a trip report about the New England Trail published at Backpackinglight.com with a somewhat condensed version of the trip reports I’ve put here. Other than that, I’ll see what happens. It’s full-on winter here in Maine (negative three degrees this morning), so there ought to be some nice hiking soon.
