I just took a little walk around Eagle Lake in Acadia National Park today. I was expecting the carriage road to be mostly bare, but it turned out there was a solid snow pack for the entire four or five mile walk. Even though the snow farther south has almost completely melted, it seems that just going a little way north and east does wonders. Good thing I still keep my snowshoes in my trunk.
The winter hiking season is mostly over for me, but this late part of the season has been mighty pretty! Now it’s time to start thinking of mud season and then summer hiking plans.
